      Helloo!

This week we did some practice on the Speaking section. We practiced task 1 and 2, and next Friday we are practicing part 3 and then the whole thing together.

For this week I left two videos. The first explains the whole speaking tests and gives you some tips, in case you need a quick overview of this section. The second video tells some DON'Ts for the test, which I found very useful and accurate.

The idea for this week is that you first, try to answer the questions I posted below (a set for task 1 and a prompt for task 2). Then, record yourself answering the questions. After that, watch the video and take down some notes. Now, listen to your recording and identify the sections where you can improve and the sections where you can apply some of the tips given in the video. Finally, record yourself again answering the same questions. Listen to the new recording and compare, did you make it better?

That would be it! See you on Friday!

      Hello, girls!

This week we worked a lot with speaking and I gave you a very special task. You had to record yourself in class and listen to your own recording. Now, what I ask you to do is to listen to your recordings and take some notes on your performance (good and bad aspects). Then, you have to take some time to prepare your answers for the same prompts I gave you in class (listed here below) and record yourself answering the same questions. Listen to your second recording and take down notes. Did you notice any improvements? Is there anythuing you specially struggle with? Is there any new ability or strategy you are starting to develop from this activity?

I also have listed some other prompts in case you want to continue practising on your own.

Good luck, and see you next Friday!

      Hello, there!

Sorry I am uploading your virtual work just now, I had quite a tough week-end/week. Anyways, it's better late than never, so here is the explanation to this week's virtual work.

Last class we practice for the Speaking section, and I asked you to record yourselves.

      Now, I want you to

      1. Listen to yourselves again and give yourself a mark from 1 to 10 as to how you think you did it.

      2. Transcribe your recording, including notes like [hesitates], [pauses], [laughs], etc.

      3. Highlight in your transcription your errors or the aspects from your presentation that you would like to improve. For this, mark with ORANGE the most serious mistakes, with YELLOW all other mistakes, and with GREEN those sections that are not mistakes per se but that have room for improvement (try not to mark everything).

      4. Then write a brief paragrpah giving an honest opinion about your recording. You must include positive and negative aspects.

      5. Finally, take a look at the rubric and, taking into account what you reflected upon earlier, choose the band that best describes your production.

      6. OPTIONAL: if you want extra feedback, you can send me you recordings and I will give you my appreciation on it.

That's it! See you on Friday for our 2nd full mock test!

      EXTRA PRACTICE MATERIAL

      Hello!

This week we worked with Speaking and we had intense practice on all tasks. For this week's virtual homework I have a challenge for you:

Take every day from 15 minutes to an hour to practice the speaking part. Speaking and Writing are like habits, you need to practice them every day until they are natural in you.

I will link the Google Docs file with questions on all the tasks for you to practice on your own.

It is also of great help to record and listen to yourself, notice one specific weakness and focus on correcting that one on the following practice instances. Once you feel like you could correct it, move on and focus on another aspect you wish to improve. My advice is that you don't try to correct more that 1 or 2 things at the same time, so that it is not overwhelming and you get better results.

If you wish, you can send me some of your recordings through WhatsApp and I will gladly listen to them and give you feedback.

Let me know if you have any questions, good luck with your practice!
